HUMPHREY BOGART:

Humphrey Bogart was the biggest movie star of all time, according to the AFI

Unlikely features he had for a movie star: he wasn’t handsome or tall, but gruff

Made his big screen debut in 1930 at age 30, and had his first big hit in 1936

Portrayed criminals, private eyes, complex characters, patriots, fighters, and lovers

Humphrey was born on Christmas Day in 1899 and died in 1957 at the age of 57

Rick Blaine, Sam Spade, Phillip Marlowe, and Lt. Queeg are some famous roles

Yet he started out playing whatever role he could get, including an odd cowboy
