The International "Honey Laundering" Scandal

Some days I really just feel like ranting and raving and howling in pure frustration until all the world stops in its tracks at the sound of my voice. Beneath the raging fury though is a real sadness...how has it come to pass that humans have lost their way to such a degree? Nothing pure or real is valued; nothing but money is considered sacred, it seems.

Top Grocery Stores Refuse To Sell Genetically Modified Salmon

Reblogged from MisBehaved Woman:

"The FDA has stated it will likely not label genetically engineered salmon, providing consumers no way of knowing if the fish they are feeding their families is genetically engineered. At least 35 other species of genetically engineered fish are currently under development, and the FDA’s decision on this genetically engineered salmon application will set a precedent for other genetically engineered fish and animals (including cows, chickens and pigs) to enter the global food market."

Maryland school district outlaws hugging, homemade food, pushing kids on swings | The Daily Caller

Reblogged from Carpenter's Cabin:

The public education system in Maryland has officially gone off the deep end.

The Old Line State — where kids have been suspended for making guns with their fingers and with toaster pastries — now boasts a school district that prohibits hugging and homemade food in public elementary schools for anyone except a parent’s own children.

Parents must also register to enter the playground and they can’t push anyone except their own kids on the swings.

Jon Rappoport

During his 2008 campaign for president, Barack Obama transmitted signals that he understood the GMO issue. Several key anti-GMO activists were impressed. They thought Obama, once in the White House, would listen to their concerns and act on them.

These activists weren’t just reading tea leaves. On the campaign trail, Obama said: “Let folks know when their food is genetically modified, because Americans have a right to know what they’re buying.”

Does Alcohol Control you?

Reblogged from The Happy Life as an Alcoholic:

I have people who depend on me.  I have people who trust me and believe in my word.  What a remarkable thing that is considering where I have come from.

There was a day, not so long ago, when my word was worth very little.  I could not be trusted nor could I be believed.  My whole world revolved around alcohol, and mundane things like trust and character did not enter into my daily life.

Proposed Law In Texas - Vaccination Without Parental Consent

Reblogged from MisBehaved Woman:

After I caught the story below that talks about Texas S.B. 63 which allows for vaccines without parental consent, I started digging around and doing a bit more research into this bill & its sponsor. It took me less than half an hour to track down Jane Nelson's membership in The American Legislative Exchange Council.  Not only is she a supporting member; she is an active member that sits on ALEC's...*drum roll please* …

When you use your camera phone's flash, I'm sure many of you see red-eye images like this.

As there are phone apps that correct it, I used my laptop's Windows Photo Gallery to correct the red-eye.

Yet, what about images like this?   The real tiny red-eye.

These kind of eyes can't be fixed worth a damned, no matter what software or app you use.

Best 7 minutes on gun control I have ever seen!

Reblogged from Current Events:

This is a 7 minute video.

The Open Carry vs Concealed Carry position is flawed.
Registration leads to confiscation. Any kind of registration. A permit to purchase is registration. A permit to carry concealed or otherwise, is registration.

There may be a fairly long time period in between registration and confiscation, measured in years. That does not defeat the premise, as history has proven time and time, again.

‘Have you heard of the Trans-Pacific Partnership? The lobbyist-penned trade deal that could give global corporations the right to sue America for getting in the way of their profits? It's larger than NAFTA and Obama is a fan. This episode features well-known activists Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese. (5 March 2013)’.

From the Boycott GMOs Facebook page Your vitamins could be sourced from GMO corn. Brands like Nature Made and Vitacost.com should be avoided, while Bluebonnet Nutrition and Dr. Joseph Mercola brands are safe. What supplements do you take? Do they say non-GMO on the package?

Now that I, Sleuth4Health, am aware of and able to discern GMOs or possible GMOs in foods, I turn my attention to all the supplements I take.

Not only is it likely that the FDA will approve of adding aspartame to milk; they'll say it just grand for it to be done without labeling it or notifying consumers...

The Department Of Homeland Security Stole My Boat Today

Reblogged from Uncrunched:

Update: THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY IS NOW BITCHING AT ME ON MY BLOG

I live a fairly simple life and that didn't change much after I sold TechCrunch in 2010. I didn't buy a new house or even a new car. The one thing I did splurge on was a boat.

Nothing too fancy or large. I live near Seattle and there's a big boating culture up here.

Today would have been the 110th birthday of one of history's sexiest women, Anaïs Nin. To honor her confessional and often erotic literary legacy, we suggest you spend the day reading something unabashedly sexy -- but no, not Fifty Shades of Meek Girl Blushing. It wouldn't be a tribute to Ms. Nin if it didn't have any literary merit. After the jump, cuddle up to our picks for the ten sexiest literary works of all time -- but as in all things romantic, it's to each their own, so if these leave you cold, suggest your own favorite titillating reads in the comments.
